Overview

La Fattoria, nestled in the scenic Pickering Brook Valley at 211 Merrivale Rd, offers an authentic Italian dining experience that blends rustic charm with refined flavors. This Italian restaurant invites guests to indulge in a carefully curated menu featuring traditional antipasti like Sicilian olives, house-marinated artichokes, and smoked almonds, alongside standout seafood options such as Fremantle pickled octopus and marinated white anchovies. The emphasis on fresh, quality ingredients is evident in every dish, with a thoughtful presentation that honors Italy’s culinary heritage.

The space at La Fattoria fosters a welcoming, homey atmosphere highlighted by vineyard views that enhance the dining experience. Customers often praise the attentive and friendly service, noting how staff like Eric and Lucy contribute to creating a warm, relaxed environment perfect for celebrations or leisurely meals. Whether enjoying a five-course set menu or choosing from a selection of grazing dishes and antipasto platters designed to order, diners are treated to well-timed courses with balanced flavors and generous portions.

The restaurant caters to a discerning audience seeking more than just a meal. It is ideal for couples marking special occasions, wine enthusiasts drawn to the impressive local selections including sweet wine and Pinot Noir, and anyone yearning for a genuine connection to Italian tradition. Seasonal menu changes and unique offerings like Nonna’s lunch invite repeat visits, providing variety while maintaining quality.

While the culinary experience shines, some guests note room for improvement in accommodating dietary restrictions, specifically regarding cheese presence across many dishes. Nonetheless, the combination of stunning valley views, authentic fare, and polished service cements La Fattoria as a hidden gem within the Perth hills region. It is a place where the love of Italian food meets the beauty of Western Australia’s wine country, making it a must-visit destination for both locals and visitors alike.

Perfect way to spend a Saturday! My partner and I chose the 5 course set menu for lunch, and every course was delicious- particularly the dessert. We had a gorgeous view of the vineyard from our table, and even went for a walk to have a look around. But by far, the best part of the experience was the service. Eric and Lucy were so welcoming and have created such a beautiful, homey atmosphere. We definitely will be back to try the Summer menu!

I'm glad my sister decided to have lunch here. We had a delicious platter that we selected from the menu (not from a fridge that you have to choose individual items and make the platter yourself, that a lot of wineries are doing). La Fattoria, you decide from the menu what you would like on your platter, and the food comes out presented and ready to enjoy. All the staff were friendly and didn't mind taking photos for us. A hidden gem is worth the visit.

We didn't come for a meal, just morning tea and wine tasting, so my rating on the food is limited to a very nice cake. But the wines are marvellous. Beautiful setting in the Pickering Brook Valley. Fantastic staff gave fantastic service.

Amazing, Nonnas lunch which is via booking only and a set menu (some thing other reviewers didn’t read or understand). We had an amazing experience for our wedding anniversary, service was exceptional, location stunning and the food was perfect, great serving, perfect flavours and timing between courses was excellent. The wines and options were also excellent. We will be back for the seasonal changes!!

Great place and good service, I don't eat cheese and nearly every dish had cheese on it, had a piece of chicken with no cheese and the last of the salad after the cheese was eaten by others. Wine tasting to start was good, however something to nibble on like crusty bread would have been nice to help absorb the alcohol on an empty stomach. Service was good but consideration of people with dietary requirements would make it a must go place.

My husband and I went for the wine tasting and set lunch menu for my birthday. It was perfect from start to finish. Lockie (sorry if misspelt) was an amazing host, they were so knowledgeable of the wine and food and made sure our experience exceeded expectations. The food & wine were fantastic. We will definitely be back.

We were lucky enough to get a table for an impromptu Saturday lunch at La Fattoria. (Recommend booking ahead) Cozy atmosphere, excellent service and owners who care about the produce they are serving their guests. We chose a selection from the Antipasto Platter. All items freshly prepared and flavourful. Next time we will book ahead for Nona's Family Table. Highly recommend this family run restaurant.

Had lunch with friends on Friday. 2nd time we have been. Everything was delicious and delightful. The wine is unusual and very good, the food excellent, the service is very friendly and knowledgeable and provided with humour and a smile. Lovely buzz of conversation, no loud music, great view across the vineyard, just perfect for a spring day.
